Our Neighborhoods
NeighborWorks Pocatello® understands the importance of vibrant neighborhoods. As such, we do everything we can to promote resident engagement – especially within the six centrally located neighborhoods of Pocatello. Although NeighborWorks has built several brand-new homes in the older, centrally located neighborhoods of Pocatello and offers resources to help people fix up and maintain their homes, it truly takes grass roots efforts from residents themselves to be the driving force for positive change. NeighborWorks promotes and facilitates neighborhood management by devoting staff support, training and resources so residents can make their very own neighborhoods become neighborhoods of choice.
We provide assistance to resident-driven groups and support the collective efforts they undertake. Resident Leadership Training is provided to help develop skilled and engaged residents who are able to work together and effectively address issues and/or opportunities they may face.
The six neighborhoods supported by NeighborWorks® Pocatello are organized into neighborhood associations, voluntary organizations where membership is geographically based, power and authority are widely distributed, and members engage in a variety of activities. The six neighborhood associations we support are:
- Alameda
- Bonneville
- Historic University Neighborhood
- Lewis & Clark
- Neighborhoods of Historic Downtown
- Mountain View
If you live in one of these neighborhoods contact an association officer to find out when the association meets and how you can become involved. New members with an interest in neighborhood issues are a welcome. If a specific issue or concern is driving your interest in participation but the neighborhood association isn’t working on that issue, be the one to begin the discussion and help lead the effort. Neighborhood associations are there to support one another.
