A beautiful development known as Park Meadows Senior Apartments, located on the south end of Pocatello, is ready for new residents after NeighborWorks Pocatello (NWP), in conjunction with its consultant partner, Desert Ridge Investments, Inc. was awarded Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) from the Idaho Housing and Finance Association to build a much-needed affordable apartment complex for residents 55 and above.
A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held on December 13, 2023, which was facilitated by the Chamber Chiefs, Desert Ridge Investments and NWP. Staff from Syringa Property Management were on hand to assist potential occupants with applications and tours of apartments and the amenities, with NWP serving refreshments after the ribbon cutting. Nearly 200 were in attendance for this celebratory event, including partners from Glacier Bank, Idaho Housing and Finance, NewWest Community Capital and the Richman Group – each of which helped facilitate financing for the project – along with several community members and elected officials.
The aesthetically pleasing development is ready to provide affordable, safe, and stable housing to residents 55 and over. Tenants will enjoy a community room, exercise room, library, game room and other amenities and will be greeted as they walk into the main entrance with a beautiful new mural showcasing iconic images of Pocatello and of Idaho. The mural was created by local artist, Nick Hottman.
The complex is conveniently located at 555 Park Meadows Drive near Prime Time Auctions between south 4th and south 5th. Park Meadows has transformed a long-vacant piece of property into a beautiful development, enriching that area of town. Plans are already underway to begin “Park Meadows II” just north of the Park Meadows I, which will add 24 more affordable housing units for senior residents.
This project is a shining example of how partnerships between local nonprofits, private business and government entities can create sustainable solutions to address the growing need for affordable senior housing in our community.
