Help is now available for owners of mobile homes who need assistance in making critical repairs. This program is being made possible thanks to some funding NeighborWorks Pocatello recently received from the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) fund as well as the City of Pocatello’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) fund. The resources will allow for approximately 30 mobile homeowners outside of the Pocatello City Limits to complete important repairs as well as 15 mobile homeowners within the Pocatello City Limits. It is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
For owners of mobile homes that meet certain eligibility criteria, a grant of up to $3,000 will be available to cover the cost of the repairs. For projects that exceed $3,000 in cost, owners may apply for low interest loan financing through NeighborWorks Pocatello upwards of $5,000 which means up to $8,000 may be available for larger projects, which would be a combination of grant and low-interest loan funds.
In order to qualify, the mobile home must be owner occupied (a copy of the title will be required), the property located in Bannock, Bingham or Power Counties.
Work must be completed by a licensed, bonded and insured contractor. Types of repairs are limited to roofs, furnaces, skirting, insulation, windows, wheel chair ramps and minor electrical or plumbing repairs. NeighborWorks Pocatello will conduct a pre-inspection and can provide owners with a listing of qualified contractors and a scope of work document, which will assist the owners in the contractor procurement process.
The program is only available for residents that meet certain income criteria. For owners 62 years or older, income must fall below 80% of Area Median Income levels. For those under 62, income must fall below 50% of Area Median Income. Click here to view our informative flyer, which includes specific information about income criteria.
